Body emollientsoils, creams and balmsare formulas that moisturize, nourish and lubricate the skin. Apply emollients after bathing, before and after exposure to sun or wind or whenever the skin feels dry or irritated. Dry or scaly areas benefit from spot applications of an emollient throughout the day, and especially before night slumber.
Body oils can be used for baths, as just described; for massage; or as an emollient moisture barrier that helps to keep your skin hydrated, lubricated and nourished. Choose from among the various bath oils listed in the Baths section or from the following formulas. For the best results, allow the skin to air-dry after a bath or shower and apply the oil when the skin is still slightly moist.
Tropical Body Oil
Use coconut oil for a cooling, soothing skin softener.
2-3 tablespoons coconut oil
Scoop out 1 tablespoon of coconut oil at a time, let it melt into the palm of your hand and then massage it into the skin. Repeat until skin is well lubricated. Makes enough for 1 treatment.
