The value of small meals or abstemious eating is now generally recognised. It lessens the work of the digestive organs and reduces the work of the heart. We conserve the energies of the body when the work of all the organs of the body is reduced to a desirable and safe minimum.
This also explains why simple, easily digestible foods are important and why the foods that overburden the digestive organs must be eliminated.
