Homemade Defunk Vinegar Itchy/Fungal Scalp
1 tablespoon mugwort 1 tablespoon burdock root (cut or
1 tablespoon oregano powdered)
1 tablespoon thyme 6 oz. organic apple cidervinegar
1 tablespoon calendula optional: water.
Proceed to Directions for Herbal-infused Vinegars with Dried Herbs. Makes about 41/2 oz.
Optional: Add 1 drop of tea tree essential oil, 1 drop of rosemary essential oil and 2 drops of lavender essential oil to every ounce of strained herbal-infused vinegar.
Massage 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar into scalp and hair and leave in for a few minutes, Cool haircuts for young girls or dilute vinegar with water, using 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 1 cup of water for short hair and 2 tablespoons of vinegar to 2 cups of water for long hair. Pour water-vinegar solution onto head and place a bowl at the end of the hair strands to catch the liquid. Repeat several times until hair and scalp are well soaked. Rinse with plain water.
Dilute the vinegar with 1-2 parts water and make a wonderful facial astringent. Use the vinegar without the essential oils for a delicious and therapeutic addition to food. Variation follows: Defunk Vinegar with Fresh Herbs
To make herbal-infused vinegar with fresh herbs fill a pint (16-oz.) jar with equal parts of each herb and follow Directions for Herbal-infused Vinegars with Fresh Herbs. Add optional essential oils to strained vinegar. Makes about 12 oz. of vinegar. The yield will vary depending on how tightly you pack the jar, how much moisture the herbs contain and how well you press the herbs during the straining process.
