Homemade Hot Hair Oil Treatments
Hot oil treatments are used to condition dry/damaged hair as the heat helps the oil to penetrate more effectively. Different haircuts for kids girls To use hair and scalp emollients for hot oil treatments, choose from a rich carrier oil, such as jojoba or coconut, or from one of the formulas featured below. Put the emollient in a heat-proof measuring cup and place it in a hot-water bath until the emollient reaches 100-105 degrees. Thoroughly massage the warm oil into your scalp and brush it through your hair until it is evenly dispersed. For long, thick hair use 1-2 teaspoons of oil or more as indicated.
For thinner, shorter hair use 1/2 -1/2 teaspoon or more as indicated. Wrap your hair with a plastic bag or shower cap, then place a thick wool cap over that. The natural heat released from your scalp will facilitate the conditioning process. Leave your hair covered in this manner for at least an hour, then wash your hair for a shiny, luxurious result. Note that it is not absolutely necessary to wash your hair after this treatment. This procedure is also very helpful for untangling hair gnarls: Work out the knots with your fingers or a comb while the hair is saturated with oil.
