I won’t let men mess me around any more!’
Former TOWIE star Gemma Collins tells Closer she’s looking for a good man’ to spoil her at Christmas – and reveals her hopes for 2016
Christmas is just around the corner, but Gemma Collins tells Closer the festive season won’t be as magical when she’s single and still longing for a family of her own.
The 34-year-old – who quit TOWIE in August but is making a guest appearance in this week’s festive special – says: I’m spending Christmas at my brother’s with all my family. It’ll be a lovely day and my brother has kids so I’ll be on auntie duty. But I don’t find Christmas magical any more. When I find a good man who’ll spoil me with diamonds and when I have children to spoil myself, the day will become magical again.
THE DATING GAME
Despite rumours she’s dating ex-con Stephen Mortimer, who has a string of convictions for drugs and violence, Gemma tells us she’s still single – and isn’t putting pressure on herself to find her Mr Right.
The star says: When I was younger, I was more stressed out about meeting someone and settling down. Now I realise that it will happen for me when it’s meant to and I have
to just leave it at that. I’ve been dating a few men, but nothing too serious. I’ve also blocked a lot of men from my life recently. Guys who I was chatting with but it really wasn’t going anywhere. I don’t have time for men to mess me around!
Gemma admits she’s made mistakes in the past when it come s to her choice of men. She briefly dated her TOWIE co-star James Argent, but he frequently left her in tears with his put-downs and later apologised for stringing her along. Her three-year on/off relationship with fiance Rami Hawash ended bitterly in early 2014 amid accusations of violence, and her brief romance with ex-jailbird Alex Moss ended in a violent bust-up last year.
The star recently admitted: I don’t know why I’m attracted to wrong ‘uns but I can’t exactly ask to see people’s criminal record before I ask their name.
Meanwhile, with the festive season fast approaching, Gemma – who shed 3st this summer – says she’s been working hard to maintain her new size 18 figure.
The star says: I’ve been walking every other day with my girlfriends for an hour and a half and trying to watch what I eat.
I really like eating good, fresh food. I’ve been trying to keep my weight down so I won’t feel bad about putting on a few pounds over the holidays. Even if I do, it means I should still be lighter than I was before. And there’s always January to trim down even more.
NEW YEAR TRADITIONS
And the bubbly star says she’s looking forward to ringing in the new year with her closest girlfriends.
She says: It’s a tradition we have.
We go over to my friend’s house, each taking a dish. I usually take my roast potatoes, which are always a hit. Then, around 11pm, we head to the local pub for a drink and to see in midnight. It’s a nice way to see in the new year without all the hassle of going out clubbing.
And when it comes to resolutions, Gemma says she’s keeping it simple this year: Just staying fabulous, honey. That’s my only resolution!
