Members of the association commit to on-going education, to the application of that knowledge toward improving services and treatments, and to making the most accurate information available to clients, and to the public as a whole. Confidentiality and privacy are highly valued conditions of treatment, as is compliance with all state laws, rules, and regulations governing the administration of medical procedures and services. Finally, members of the association promise to be proactive in their communities, looking for and creating opportunities to support and improve the makeup and well-being of the people there, whether or not they are clients of the beauty spa. Most people thinking of visiting a beauty spa of any type will have to acquire some new vocabulary, in order to understand the services offered, and this is certainly true of medical beauty spas. A glossary of terms related to beauty spas, including many that are particular to medical beauty spas, is available online from the Day Spa Association at www.daybeauty spaassociation.org/mainpages/beauty spaglossary.htm. A second glossary, more narrowly focused on medical beauty spa terms is provided by the International Medical Spa Association, at www.medicalbeauty spaassociation.
