Occasionally, someone broke the house rules advertised a business or promoted a product in the group, shared information outside the group, or acted disrespectfully but in all honesty, these instances were rare. I was blessed in that Motivate Me seemed to attract mature, professional, smart women. The amount of genuine love, care and support that flowed through the group was the real essence of the community and I was, and still am, very thankful to the members for this. With the inner workings of Motivate Me running smoothly, the Facebook page and memberships growing and the business doing well, the public profile of the company continued to grow, as did my own. I was lucky enough to feature in numerous magazine articles, including covers, and was asked to appear and speak at events. I guess I became quite well known in the wellness industry. I had also become one of the first active ‘social influencers’ in New Zealand, creating a niche for myself in the women is wellness and lifestyle beauty space. Around the same time, Julia and Libby Matthews (great friends of mine today) had created their eponymous Facebook page, devoted to food and wellness, and that was really taking off, too. In 2014, Millie Elder Holmes launched her blog Clean Eatz NZ, and quickly became another strong voice in the food and wellness world. In 2015, I got together with Millie and Libby and created the Girl on a Journey roadshow, holding four events in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton, where we shared our own personal wellness journeys.
