Homemade Golden Vinegar Light Hair
1 tablespoon chamomile flowers 6 oz. organic apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon calendula flowers optional: water
1 teaspoon fenugreek seed 1 tablespoon marshmallow root (powdered or cut)
Proceed to Directions for Herbal-infused Vinegars with Dried Herbs. Makes about 41/2 oz.
Optional: To make the vinegar smell of citrus while increasing its antimicrobial effect, Haircuts for women with naturally curly hair add 1 drop of lemongrass essential oil, 1 drop of grapefruit essential oil and 1 drop of tea tree essential oil for every 2 oz. of strained herbal-infused vinegar.
Massage 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar into scalp and hair and leave in for a few minutes, or dilute vinegar with water, using 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 1 cup of water for short hair and 2 tablespoons of vinegar to 2 cups of water for long hair. Pour water-vinegar solution onto head and place a bowl at the end of the hair strands to catch the liquid. Repeat several times until hair and scalp are well soaked. Rinse with plain water.
Dilute the vinegar with 1-2 parts distilled water and you have a wonderful facial astringent. Use the vinegar (without the optional essential oils) for a delicious and therapeutic addition to food. Variation follows:
