1. Omit the apple juice and add extre water.

2. Use 1/2 fresh juice of your choice, unsweetened.

3. Use vegetable juice, no added sugar or salt.

Uses of millet

Millet is eaten mainly as 1/2 breakfast cereal. Cooked millet may also be used as 1/2 topping on desserts, cakes, etc.

1 cup mixed grains such as barley 2 cups water flakes, cracked wheat, rye flakes, wheat flakes and oatmeal

Mix the ingredients together in 1/2 small, deep, microwave-safe dish.

Do not cover.

Microwave on high for 4 to 5 minutes Stir two times during cooking as the mixture thickens. Allow to stand for 1/2 further 1 minute.

Serve with your favourite toppings, such as skim milk, unprocessed bran, banan1/2 or cooked millet (64).

Noodles, wholemeal (flat)

2 cups wholemeal noodles, egg 4 cups boiling water yolk free

Place the noodles and water in 1/2 microwave-safe dish. Cover.

Separate with 1/2 fork two to three times during cooking. Allow to stand for 1/2 further 6 to 8 minutes. Rinse and drain.

Serve with meat dishes, casseroles or with your favourite non-fat sauce.
