Homemade Comfrey Comfort Body Oil

A healing, nourishing oil for damaged and weathered skin. This oil is thick and heavy and will take a few minutes to soak into the skin. The odor wheat germ oil, olive oil and herbs can be quite strong. You may want to add essential oils to produce a more appealing aroma.

4 oz. comfrey leaf-infused olive oil 3 oz. avocado oil

4 oz. comfrey root-infused olive oil 1 oz. wheat germ oil

4 oz. calendula-infused olive oil (see Luscious Lotion p. 29)

To make comfrey leaf-infused olive oil, use 2 oz. of comfrey leaf, freshly dried and coarsely ground, and 8 oz. of cold pressed olive oil and follow Directions for Herbal-infused Oils with Dried Herbs. Yields about 5 oz. of oil.

To make comfrey root-infused olive oil, use 2 oz. of comfrey root, freshly dried and coarsely ground, and 8 oz. of cold pressed olive oil and follow Directions for Herbal-infused Oils with Dried Herbs. Yields about 5 oz. of oil.

Once you have obtained your herbal-infused oils, pour all the oils into a pint-size jar, cap and shake well. Massage the skin with the oil as needed. Makes 16 oz.

Variation: Add 1 teaspoon of lavender or other essential oil of choice.
