Moisturizing creams emulsions that combine the emollient effects of oil with the hydrating action of water provide the same benefits for the body as for the face, as described in the first chapter. You can use any of the face cream formulas as a body cream, or try some of those that follow. Please refer to the Techniques and Definitions chapter for detailed instructions on making creams.
Lavender Sandalwood Moisturizing Cream all/dry
An excellent face and body cream for most skin types, with a truly delicious aroma. When making this formula for the body more essential oils are used than when making it for the face as illustrated in the first chapter. The addition of essential oils in the quantity given here helps preserves the cream for 6 months to a year outside refrigeration.
Use 2 teaspoons of lavender essential oil, 1/2 teaspoon of sandalwood essential oil and see formula p. 29.
Luscious Lotion All/Oily
An excellent face and body moisturizer for normal to oily skin with the added healing properties of calendula and St. Johnswort. When making this formula for the body more essential oils are used than when making it for the face, as illustrated in the first chapter. This cream is preserved for 6 months outside refrigeration when made with the quantities of essential oils mentioned in the following recipe.
Use 1 teaspoon ylang-ylang essential oil, 1 teaspoon lavender essential oil, 1/2 teaspoon lemongrass essential oil and see formula p. 29.
