Homemade Skin Soothe Balm

A healing balm for dry, cracked skin. Apply throughout the day and especially before night slumber.

2 oz. comfrey-infused olive oil (see 2 oz. shea butter Comfrey Salve/Loose Version p. 36) 1 oz. cocoa butter 2 oz. calendula-infused olive oil (see 1/2 oz. lecithin Luscious Lotion p. 29) 3 oz. beeswax 2 oz. of chamomile-infused olive oil 100 drops lavender essential oil (see Creamy Rose Chamomile Oil 100 drops fennel essential oil pp. 82-83) 50 drops sandalwood essential oil 3 oz. jojoba oil

In a heat-proof measuring cup, combine strained herbal-infused oils, jojoba oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, lecithin and beeswax. Place the measuring cup in a hot-water bath and while stirring allow the ingredients to melt together and become a uniform liquid free of lumps. When it is completely melted, pour mixture into a wide-mouth jar and immediately drop in essential oils. Quickly cap jar to prevent essential oils from evaporating. Leave balm undisturbed for several hours or overnight to cool and solidify. The consistency of this balm is loose, somewhat like petroleum jelly, which allows it to spread over the skin without much friction. If you want to make it harder add more beeswax. Be aware that this balm may become grainy in colder temperatures, but this does not reduce its effectiveness.
