How does alcohol affect blood sugar levels pregnancy?
Women, in particular, need to keep their blood sugar levels stable in order to balance their hormones and to improve their chances of getting
pregnant. Alcohol contains sugars and drinking more than the odd glass of wine or drinking on a daily basis can result in fluctuating blood sugar levels and a craving for more alcohol (see below).
The net result is either that the woman drinks more to keep her blood sugar level raised or she eats sugary foods to raise it. In either case, her health suffers and, in particular, her hormone secretion, which may impact on her fertility.
