I Which tests will we need to have done initially pregnancy?
A GP can arrange for you to get blood tests done and these will show whether or not you have a healthy hormonal balance and are ovulating consistently (143). Your partner should also have a semen analysis test.
It is vital that you are both investigated at this stage, to avoid the situation where one person is investigated while the other does nothing, only to discover months later that the problem lies with the partner, and valuable time has been lost. Ask whether these tests will be done at a local fertility clinic or at a hospital pathology lab, as the latter, particularly when it comes to semen analysis, may be less accurate and informative than if the test samples are sent to a specialist fertility clinic (see Step 3 for more on semen analysis).
