DESIGNER Edwin Hong from Renozone
RENO PERIOD Approx. 1.5 months
As this apartment measures approximately 1,000 square feet, the homeowners’ main request from Renozone’s Edwin Hong was to give the compact unit adequate storage solutions.
As such, the designer converted an entire wall at the home’s communal zone into a storage unit, which keeps the area looking neat and tidy with its streamlined profile.
While the living and dining areas share the same space in the open-concept apartment, both spaces boast their own unique characteristics. In the living room, a pair of specially constructed cove lighting strips serve as the main light source for the space. In contrast, the dining area sports a statement chandelier complemented by woodgrained laminated panels laid over the ceiling, which give the Maximise storage space in a small bedroom by opting for a platform bed surrounding space its cosy cabin vibe.
To keep the junior bedroom looking uncluttered, pull-out drawers were installed above the television set to tuck away the entertainment system and its accompanying cables. Additionally, a glass cabinet was installed above the headboard to provide more space for the inhabitant to display his toy collection.
The floor and walls of the balcony were replaced with dark timber panels at the owner’s request, transforming it into a private corner perfect for reading or a quiet discussion. A retractable sunscreen roller blind was also installed here to provide privacy and shade. outfitted with drawers that double up as extra storage units.
The master bedroom keeps to the cosy theme of the apartment’s overall look with a tasteful white and woodgrained scheme. Here, designer Edwin custom-designed an L-shape wardrobe with an open niche at the side. This niche, in fact, serves as a space-saving bedside table. Meanwhile, ceiling-mounted ambient light fixtures flanking the bed add to the relaxing vibe of the sleeping quarters.
