She is just happy to give others a leg up. A year or so into it, I began a second business, M Fit, which was a sportswear range designed to encourage women to reach their makeup, sport and lifestyle goals while moving mindfully through their day. About six months after starting Motivate Me, I had started printing fun, bright singlets with playful, motivational words and phrases. They sold really well to members, and soon non-members were interested in them, too. I had made them strictly members-only to begin with, and it was quite a good tool to get people to sign up, but I recognised that the clothing had a wider reach, so I set up M Fit as a separate business that ran alongside Motivate Me. So that members still felt special, I kept the branded apparel the ‘MMNZ’ pieces they wore to events just for them. At this stage, I brought on paid staff for the first time. I never advertised publicly, only within the Motivate Me community, and this way employed people who really got the philosophy behind the business. Nic Howard, Jessica Fraser and Chloe Green were my three longest-serving team members. These women helped me so much in establishing M Fit and maintaining the standards we had set across both businesses.
