Shaving Lotion Herbal Shaving Lotion
This mild soap is excellent for shaving. It provides glide for smooth shaving and protects the skin from drying out, keeping it supple and soft.
Use the following dried and crushed 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
herbs: 2 teaspoons comfrey root, 1/2 teaspoon jojoba oil
2 teaspoons marshmallow root 3 oz. castile soap
1 cup water 60 drops rosemary essential oil
Make an infusion with herbs and water, let steep for 8 hours or overnight and strain. Gently reheat infusion to a warm temperature and add coconut oil. Stir until the coconut oil has melted. Take off heat and add liquid castile soap and jojoba oil. Pour into jar or squeeze bottle, add essential oil, cap and shake. It is ready for use. Shake prior to each application. Store in the refrigerator if not used up within a few weeks. Makes about 9 oz.
Variation: You can use plain water in place of the herbal infusion, although the resulting lotion will be less nourishing and protective to the skin. For a more moisturizing lotion, increase the coconut and jojoba oils.
