She made her name over two decades ago as one of the world’s top models, but Caprice tells Closer that, these days, she prefers to spend Christmas relaxing with her two young sons, rather than living it up at A-list parties.
The star reveals she spent her wildest showbiz Christmas on a yacht with rapper Sean Combs – aka P Diddy – but says it wasn’t her thing.
Caprice, 44, says: I was making a lot of money at a really young age and, one year, I went to St Barts. I was staying on my friend’s boat and I didn’t like the people there. I was with Puffy [P Diddy], but I just couldn’t stand the energy. Instead of simply bearing it, Caprice decided to do her own thing. She says: I booked a ticket and flew to Costa Careyes in Mexico. I rented this crazy house on top of a hill and I ended up staying there for another two weeks. These days, Christmas for Caprice is a chance to take a break and hang out with her family. This year she’s returning to LA so two-year-old Jax and Jett -her children with investor partner Ty Comfort – can visit their grandmother.
Caprice calls the boys her miracle babies – one was born via surrogate and the other was carried by Caprice herself – and they were delivered just weeks apart.
It’s thought to be the only case of its kind, and Caprice – who went through several rounds of IVF before conceiving naturally – treats her boys as twins, even celebrating their birthdays on the same date.
ALL ABOUT THE KIDS
So, what is the lingerie designer expecting to find under the family tree this year? She says: I don’t think I’m getting anything for Christmas – it’s all about the kids. When you have children, it’s not about you any more! Despite the fact she’s heading across the pond this year, American Caprice says she loves the hustle and bustle of London. She laughs: I’ve been here 21 years, you can’t get rid of me! One thing I love about London is the restaurants
– though you can’t get a reservation, they’re booked all the time!
And back at her family home in LA, don’t expect to find Caprice in the kitchen this festive season.
Hell no! she insists. I never do the cooking. But my favourite thing to eat at Christmas – and it’s very American
– is sweet potato with marshmallows. My mom also makes this green jello with cottage cheese in it – it’s so good
– and an amazing eggplant with ricotta cheese and a tomato sauce. My mom is the best cook.
