MAINTAIN WEIGHT FOR BETTER HEALTH
After the age of 40, it is natural for women to put on weight. They may also discover that it is harder to maintain their weight during the perimenopause, the years leading up to the menopause; on average, women gain about 0.5 kg (1 lb) a year during this time. There is evidence that weight gained at this time also predisposes women to breast cancer, so take preventative action by eating less and burning more calories.
FOLLOW THE 80-20 RULE
Drastic food restriction is not the way to a healthier, fitter body. Choose sensible options for 80% of the time, and occasionally relax the rules when you are eating out or have a special celebration. This way you are more likely to stick to good eating principles, and not feel guilty about having the odd treat.
