Nomuzi Mabena’s status as South Africa’s Skhanda Queen couldn’t be more fitting. Not only because she has fast become the female face of the genre, but because she’s building herself an empire. But it was in 2012, when she won the MTV Base VJ Search, that people really sat up and took notice. Her charisma even caught the attention of record label Cashtime Life, and it wasn’t long before she’d reinvented herself as the country’s fiercest female rapper.
