Piles for Contraception
If you have developed piles (haemorrhoids) during pregnancy they should improve quickly after the birth. Lie on your back with your feet raised a little, cross your legs at the ankles and holding a tissue coated with petroleum jelly against the piles, draw in the muscles round the anus and vagina. Repeat as often as possible. Occasionally an anal fissure may form and this can cause great pain when passing a stool. Lubricate the anus with petroleum or K-Y jelly and see your doctor if the condition does not clear up within a few days. Ointment applied externally may be prescribed, or a suppository that melts and heals internally may be ordered. In severe cases an injection can be given to provide rapid relief.
