Short Crust Pastry Recipe

You will need:

8 oz. flour 2 oz. lard (or

Pinch salt vegetable

2 oz. margarine shortening)

Cold water to mix

1 Sieve the flour and salt into a mixing bowl.

2 Roughly chop the fat and add to the flour. Rub the fat into the flour using the finger tips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

3 Gradually add the cold water and knead mixture lightly by hand until it works together into a firm dough.

4 Turn out on to a lightly floured surface and knead lightly until smooth. Turn pastry over and roll out, as required.
