Singer Sinitta on how she’s spending the festive period with Simon Cowell and what she’s buying the man who has everything
She ruled the ’80s with a string of pop music hits and bagged herself a Hollywood boyfriend in Brad Pitt before she had a relationship with Simon Cowell. And Sinitta, 47, is still close to the music mogul, describing him as her “best friend” of 20 years.
While Simon is now settled with girlfriend Lauren Silverman and their 22-month-old son Eric, Sinitta – who has adopted children, Magdalena, 10, and Zac, nine – describes the harmonious friendship as “one big happy family” and reveals she’ll be joining Simon for his annual Christmas trip to Barbados.
Sinitta says: “We fly out to Barbados the day after the X Factor final, so within 24 hours of the show ending we’ll all be lounging around a swimming pool with

some Champagne. This year, I’m only staying until Christmas Eve as my mum is coming over to London from America, so Simon will throw a big pre-Christmas party the night before we leave.
CHRISTMAS AT HOME
“Simon loves giving generous presents but he usually doesn’t open his until three or four days after Christmas, as he sleeps all through Christmas morning! I always get him a fitness gift to make him even more handsome, but this year I’ve got him a sentimental present and I can’t wait to give it to him.
“It’ll only be the second Christmas my kids have had in the UK. They’re used to watching Santa arrive on a jet ski and eating lobster and prawns on the beach for Christmas lunch, so I’m having to pull out all the stops to make this year special. We’re going to have a roast turkey with all the trimmings, and I’ve told them we get to stay in our pyjamas all day snuggled up in front of the TV, or put on our wellies and go for a walk in the park. I’m praying that it’ll be snowing!”
Sinitta reveals that their Caribbean getaway is the perfect time for the group to catch up, and despite Simon always having loved spending time with her kids, it’s extra special now that he’s a dad himself.
Sinitta says: “In the evenings, we all lounge around watching films together with the kids. Lauren and I ditch the make-up and we can all curl up in front of Christmas films eating on our laps, just salads or beans on toast. My kids love seeing Eric and Adam [Lauren’s nine-year-old son with ex-husband Andrew Silverman]. They’re busy making cards for each other, and can’t wait to play games with Eric in the pool.
“I had a third adoption fall through a few years ago and was devastated at the time, but now I’ve seen maybe it was a blessing in disguise raising young children is so rewarding but such hard work, and my life is a lot easier not having a toddler. I love it now that I have baby Eric to play with. He’s my godson, so being with him takes care of my broodiness!”
‘I only work out for 15 minutes a day’ She admits she used to be “obsessed” with working out, but now Sinitta – who is a slim size 8 and looks like a woman half her 47 years – says the secret to her incredible figure is intense workouts for just 15 minutes each day. She says: “It has to be the hardest 15 minutes of your life, just pick an exercise – like lunges – and make that workout as intense as possible. It’s enough to totally sculpt your body.”
She follows a strict low-carb diet, and has cut down the sugar in her diet, although she still allows herself her favourite treats -chocolate, tequila and a glass of Champagne.
She says: “People always ask me how I look so young. I used to have Baby Botox [tiny doses of Botox], but this year I’ve started using a CACI Microlift toning machine that exercises the muscles in your face, and I’ve had more compliments than I ever did from Botox.
“I learnt how to ski for the TV show The Jump, and ice skated for Dancing On Ice, so I’m always looking for a new sport. In 2016, I’d love to play football. I’ll be working out and staying fit until I’m 90!”
The size 8 star looks half her age!
Despite their close friendship, Sinitta admits she’s never brought up the topic of marriage with Simon, 56.
She says: “Getting married is a lovely thing to do, but Simon and Lauren are very settled and such a loved-up couple that it’s never been an issue that they’re not husband and wife. They’ve always said they want more kids and it would be lovely if that happens this year, but they’re a very content little family.”
But following a recent break-in at Simon’s £35million west London home earlier this month – where an intruder prowled the property for 30 minutes, stealing money and valuables worth a six-figure sum -Sinitta says it’s made the XFactor judge reassess what is important to him.
