“Creams and liquids help counteract your skin’s dryness to give you a fresh, dewy finish,” says makeup artist Jamie Greenberg, who works with Rashida Jones. First, mix a few drops of a liquid highlighter or bronzer into your drop of foundation before applying. Then “tap a pinkish-berry cream blush—which looks great on everyone— on the tops of cheeks and on lips plus a smidge along the bridge of your nose for a sun-kissed effect.” We like Revlon Insta-Blush in Berry Kiss.

Dial back on retinol
Cold, dry conditions can make your skin more susceptible to irritation, so if you use retinol or a prescription retinoid and your face is dry or red, apply a basic moisturizer first, then smooth on your anti-ager. “If that doesn’t help, scale back to using the product just two to three nights a week,” says Dr. Harper. Or you can simply put retinol on hold for the winter and instead use a serum or moisturizer with peptides, such as Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum, which won’t aggravate skin.
