Tina Fey, Amy Poehler

In this laugh-out-loud comedy, SNL alums (and awards-show hosts nonpareil) Tina Fey and Amy Poehler team up again to play party girl Kate (Fey) and her levelheaded younger sister Maura (Poehler), who’s looking to start over after her divorce. When they return to their childhood home to clean out their bedrooms before their parents sell the place, the women throw one last hurrah so they can relive their glory days and Kate can get Maura to let loose!

We threw all our dirty clothes in, filled it with cold water, poured in a generous helping of soap powder then went off to the bar. The machine was known as a ‘tanglematic’ for the good reason that everything became meshed into a string of hard knots by the end of the wash. We would drag it out of the machine at the end, flop the whole mess of clothes into the shower for a rinse, wind it through a mangle, and iron the sorry result. We looked much smarter than we deserved. After a couple of months we received orders to sail east across the Pacific, through the Panama Destination to Curacao and then across to West Africa. Max was delighted to receive the orders and was looking forward to seeing his old West African stomping grounds of Sierra Leone, the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togoland and Nigeria. The Pacific crossing was back-to-back, long and balmy days; both of us on day-work, chipping, painting, holystoning, repairing ropes and wires, getting browner, getting stronger. We crossed the Pacific without cargo, just water ballast in several of the tanks. We started tank-cleaning a couple of days out, although this was a white oil ship and so the cleaning process was a much easier task: it was easier because the product was cleaner and there was no sludge, although it was more dangerous due to the gas content being much more lethal. We watched all the films then watched the best of them again.
