Tomato Sauce Recipe
Cooking Time: about 30 minutes You will need:
2 onions pinch thyme
2 tablespoons oil 1 pint water
1 small can tomato salt and pepper paste
1 Peel and chop the onions.
2 Heat the oil in a small pan and fry onions for about 5 minutes.
3 Add the tomato paste and cook for a few minutes longer, stirring all the time.
4 Add the thyme and water, boil gently for about 25 minutes. Season to taste.
Curry sauce
Cooking Time: 20 minutes You will need: 2 tablespoons corn oil 1 medium-sized onion, sliced
1 level tablespoon curry powder
3 level teaspoons cornflour
1 Heat the corn oil and tender.
2 Stir in curry powder and cornflour and cook for 1 minute.
3 Stir in salt, tomato purde, beef stock cube, water and chutney.
4 Bring to the boil, stirring all the time. Simmer gently for 15 minutes.
Sweet sauce
Cooking Time: about 10 minutes You will need: 1 level teaspoon 2 tablespoons jam or cornflour marmalade 1 pint water few drops lemon juice (optional)
1 Blend the cornflour with a little of the water.
2 Bring the remainder of the water, together with the jam, to the boil. Pour on to the cornflour, stirring all the time.
3 Rinse the pan with cold water, pour the sauce back and bring to the boil. Boil for 3 minutes, add lemon juice to taste, if liked.
