TROUBLESHOOTING: HOW NOT TO SABOTAGE YOUR WEDDING LOOKS

Unless you routinely get facials and never have a bad reaction, don’t get a facial in the week before the event.

Avoid getting too much sun just before the wedding. A red face is never attractive in a picture. And tan lines might look silly with your dress.

Do not get a big-change haircut or new hair color in the weeks leading up to your marriage.

If you have a blemish or a breakout just before your day, keep your hands off your face. Don’t pick, squeeze, or attack. Your face will look just fine if you just leave things alone. (In the case of an emergency glaring pimple, see your dermatologist.)

Turning forty is often traumatic. Many associate the number with loss of youth or the beginning of middle age. Nothing could be further from the truth. Age forty today is much younger than it was for your mother or grandmother. The forties decade now represents a time when women can be their strongest, most vibrant, independent, and sexy. (Think of all the Hollywood leading ladies and female rock stars in their forties!)

While in our thirties, many of us are focused on careers and family and how to juggle those two elements of our lives. Conversely, in our forties there is finally some time for ourselves. The kids are probably school age or older. One’s career is probably in its groove. If you have been a stay-at-home mom, maybe it’s the moment you choose to go back to work. You have developed a strong sense of self. You have accepted your body and now there’s probably more opportunity than ever to exercise and get into the best possible shape. Perhaps there’s more money for a nicer wardrobe or a trip to a spa. Whatever you do, be positive about this time; you’ll look and feel your best.
