What are the best ways to cope with morning sickness pregnancy?
There is no magic remedy to get rid of the unpleasant symptoms of morning sickness – which can, in fact, strike at any time of day. However, some of the following tips may help you to cope:
Eat little and often.
Avoid fatty or spicy foods.
Eat bland easy-to-digest food. Foods such as dry biscuits, rice cakes, and porridge (mixed if possible with skimmed or semi-skimmed milk) are good.
Peppermint tea combats the metallic taste in the mouth caused by nausea.
Ginger (for example, in the form of ginger tea, ginger capsules, crystallized ginger, or ginger biscuits) is often helpful in alleviating symptoms of nausea.
If sickness is worse in the morning, try eating a dry biscuit first thing, before you get out of bed.
Acupuncture has been shown to help in relieving the symptoms of morning sickness. Some women use an acupressure wristband that presses on the acupuncture point on the inside of the wrist.
